DNS propagation slow

What is the name of the domain?

mobilispress.com

What is the issue you’re encountering

Site is offline

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

I am new and followed the setup. In the Dashboard I see everything as green and no errors. I added Cloudflare nameservers to Squarespace (DNSSEC was already off) the added DNSSEC values to Squarespace. Site if offline and dns checker shows slow and spotty propagation. Do I just have to wait for propagation or is there something wrong?

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

DNS not responding/updating

There don’t seem to be any DNS records set for your domain or www

Make sure you add records to point to your web and mail hosts in your dashboard here…
https://dash.cloudflare.com/?to=/:account/:zone/dns/records

Hi on the Squarspace support page they say specifically:

  • Ensure that your CNAME and A records aren’t using a Cloudflare proxy. The proxy status can interfere with the connection.

But you don’t seem to have any records set at all, proxied or not.

Do you have any records here?
https://dash.cloudflare.com/?to=/:account/:zone/dns/records

I have the nameservers but not the DNS managemente. So I add the DNS management one?
If so, I don’t understand what I am supposed to put in the required fields.
This is the record on Squarespace:

Sorry, it’s in Italian. From left to right: Host, type, Priority, Data

Or am I supposed to add this record:

Given the suggestion here:

You need to add records that point at your web and email hosts. You will need to check with them if you don’t know what they should be.

Hi,

I had to send an email because chat was not available in Squarespace. While I waited I set up the DNS with the values I showed before.

Now the DNS checker turns almost everything green and the sf.sjr check says everything works. But when I try to access the website, Cloudflare returns error 1016. Any ideas?

Error 1016 means your CNAME target (in your case gv-ogadcj37lcjb4e.dv.googlehosted.com) does not resolve and indeed it does not. If you are still hosting at Squarespace you’ll need to ask them what DNS records to use.

Hi, This is the reply by Squarespace:

My name is Sarah and I’ll be able to assist you.

I understand that you are having trouble with your DNS records.

To clarify, your domain mobilispress.com is using Cloudflare’s nameservers. Nameservers determine where your domain’s DNS is hosted, so your DNS settings will need to be managed on Cloudflare’s end, not Squarespace’s end. If you need assistance with entering DNS records on Cloudflare’s end, you will need to reach out to their support team.

Now, what am I supposed to do?

You don’t need help entering them, you can do that already, you need to find out what they need to be. Is Squarespace your web host? The record you are trying to enter is for Google.

Google domains was bought by Squarespace.
All I can see in terms of DNS record is what I posted before.

According to securitytrails.com you were using Shopify (23.227.38.32) until 11 days ago when you then changed to Network Solutions (50.6.153.115)…
https://securitytrails.com/domain/mobilispress.com/history/a

I deleted my Shopify website. Deleted all DNS record in Squarespace and I guess they assigned Network Solutions or they are Netwoek Solutions. I have no idea what Network Solutions is.

So do you actually have a web site?

Yes and it worked before trying to activate Cloudflare

The A record shown by securitytrails.com is 50.6.153.115 so try that. I’m only guessing as if you don’t know where your site is, then there’s not much I can do.
