DNS_PROBE_POSSIBLE Error Instead of Redirect

Aloha, Cloudflare community!

I have an app from Heroku deployed on a custom domain in Cloudflare using a CNAME record. To make sure that all iterations of the domain are redirected to https://www.example.com, I added two page rules:

example.com/
Forwarding URL (Status Code: 301 - Permanent Redirect, Url: https://www.example.com)

and

*.example.com/*
Always Use HTTPS

Currently, when a user tries to go to example.com directly, they receiving a DNS_PROBE_POSSIBLE error instead of being redirected to https://www.example.com.

Could you please advise? I’m not sure where to go from here.

Thanks so much and have a great day!

Welcome to the Cloudflare Community. :logodrop:

Did you create a :orange: proxied DNS record for example.com? You need traffic to be sent to the Cloudflare proxy for your redirect to be applied. I recommend adding a AAAA of 100:: for the name @ (it will show as example.com once saved) and setting it to :orange: proxied.

Aloha, @epic.network !

No, I didn’t do that. Let me try and see if it works. If it doesn’t, I’ll be sure to let you know.

Mahalo and have a great day!
