What feature, service or problem is this related to?
DNS records
What are the steps to reproduce the issue?
Hi team, I have just paused a .com site that was going through Cloudflare. I have set it to paused not remove. It says DNS iwill still be CF, but when I run my who command it shows my site (square space), not CF. I would have thought Id need to fully remove the site for this to happen. Any ideas? Also, if I do remove the site completely, then are there any dns settings I need to change afterwards, or will the site just use the IP/domains for Square space? Worth noting, we pay square space for the site and the .com address is through names.co.uk - they are linked together. thank you
Yes, when paused DNS services are still provided by Cloudflare, but any DNS queries will return the unproxied records so requests go direct to your origin and no Cloudflare features are applied.
This allows you to “turn off” Cloudflare without changing the nameservers. See…
thanks, thought this might be the case. If i fully remove my site from CF, then are there any DNS changes I need to make and will there be any kind of downtime whilst the DNS resolver gets updated?
To avoid downtime, don’t remove your site from Cloudflare. Simply ensure your new DNS has all the correct records then change your nameservers over at your registrar. This will allow Cloudflare to continue to resolve your domain while the nameserver TTLs expire which may take 24-72 hours. 7-days after the nameservers are changed, your site will automatically be removed from Cloudflare.
