Question about DMARC Reporters

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

As can be seen in the attached dmarc.png we have some work to do regarding our SPF and DKIM records for Mailchimp.

My question is about the specified Reporters; almost everything comes from google.com. I don’t understand, because I can’t imagine all recipients use Gmail as their mailprovider or do I misunderstand where DMARC reports come from?

You have access to your recipients, so you would be able to dig deeper in to that.

However, the explanation could also be that they are forwarding their messages towards Google (Gmail), which would be changing what you see in regards to DMARC reports.

You’re sending a message, from Mailchimp that goes towards [email protected].

Your destination, [email protected], have configured (automatic) forwarding towards [email protected].

As your From: domain (e.g. example.com in the event of [email protected]) have now been seen on both Microsoft (e.g. Hotmail/Live/Outlook) and Google (Gmail), you may actually receive two DMARC reports covering information about the exact same message.

That scenario could lead to one report from Microsoft, and one report from Google.

The report from Microsoft, would show that the message originated from Mailchimp IP addresses (assuming direct Mailchimp → Microsoft connection), however, the report from Google would be showing that Google received it from Microsoft IP addresses, as Microsoft was an intermediate for the message in this example.
