Deploying no-framework html files

Today I was trying that if I could only create a repo with an index.html and deploy it as is.
No output directory, no build step.

Uploading a zip file directly works with no extra steps.
Deploying with git no build command, no output directory, just throws 404.

Isn’t there an implicit index.html recognition on root dir or an implicit dist/ (like) directory?

At my first try I would get a browser error.

Having index.html on the root now resolves the site.
