Delete default certificate

What is the name of the domain?

farberheels.win

What is the error number?

Cannot delete default certificate. It expires Feb 2025

What is the error message?

cannot delete default certificate that is due to expire

What is the issue you’re encountering

I got a msg that my certificate will be exporing… so I generated a new one and activated it. It says it is in use. However I cannot deactivate or delete the original default one which is still listed as available

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

Did web search and community search nothing there

Was the site working with SSL prior to adding it to Cloudflare?

No

What is the current SSL/TLS setting?

Off

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

none

Kindly, see and try with a workaround as described at a post from below. Try out, check next reply (if it doesn’t activate it on the 1st try, you might have to repeat only the step and click on the button “Turn on and confirm”) and reply back if it works for you as well:

I can activate the new certificate. The problem is that I cannot deactivate the old default one. I tried the solution posted and that does not resolve the issue either

Is the new one active now? Does it look to you like below or?

I am not aware if the “old” one can be deactivated, rather will expire by default.

I’ve got the “Deactivate” and “Delete” options both disabled for it, cannot click on it, obviously with and on purpose:

Description of the Deployment status:

Looks like we cannot do it since it’s the “default” and Cloudflare will take care abou it as I am afraid it’s not a good way to allow us to deactivate and/or delete such before the expire date, might cause issues only for unexperienced users and those who wouldn’t switch to the new one on-time.

My best guess by deactivating or deleting “default certificate” manually, we might break the authentication flow, potentially leading to access issues, especially for unexperienced users who aren’t aware of the implications.
Furthermore, if Cloudflare would allow us such behaviour, to manually delete this “default certificate” before the time expiration, it might introduce security risks, such as accidentally breaking the connection between users and Cloudflare One and possible accidentally lock out and to minimize the chance of user error. Could be I am wrong about it.

Yes that is what it looks like. I guess I will wait for about 6 weeks when the old one expires and see what occurs. Thanks
