Why do I need a credit card to use the free Zero Trust?

Ok but that doesn’t answer the question. Why?
If it’s free there’s no point in asking for a credit card. Or free is not free forever and user will have to pay sometime.
Would knowing that it is to verify your identity and prevent misuse of the service make you feel better about it?
Oracle free cloud server has the same requirement. To prevent abuse of the service by multiple accounts.
