Consequences of not uploading government issued ID

I purchased a domain from Cloudflare on Feb 26th and received an email on Feb 27th asking me to complete user billing verification via Stripe. The email looked super sketchy, but based on other posts here it seems legit. However, I don’t want to upload my drivers license to Stripe given that data breaches happen regularly these days and I’ve never had to do this when I’ve purchased domains at other registrars.

I understand I’ll lose my domain if I don’t upload my ID, but I’m wondering whether I will still be able to use the free Cloudflare plan on the other sites on my Cloudflare account whose domains are registered at different registrars? Or will Cloudflare just completely suspend my account? Thanks for your help!

This will not affect those domains or your Cloudflare account for those other domains.

Thanks so much for letting me know about this. I’m very pleased I will still be able to protect my other domains with Cloudflare’s free service.

And I do understand that you need verification when things seem suspicious, but I just do not feel comfortable uploading my government issued ID to Stripe in order to purchase a domain.

Thanks again for your assistance!
