Hello, I am experiencing an issue with my website sleepmasterscanada(dot)com where it gives me a connection timed out error 522 code and I have no idea how to fix it. I have tried to contact Cloudflare but there is no technical support over the phone. Having contacted a bunch of other places I am being told this is a DNS error which means nothing to me as I am not technical enough. ANY help whatsoever will be much appreciated!!! PLEASE AND THANK YOU!
Welcome to the Cloudflare Community.
You are correct that there is no telephone support for Cloudflare products without an Enterprise agreement at the minimum, and even then it is reserved for high level emergencies.
Did the parties claiming that this is a DNS error provide you with any supporting information as to why they are making that suggestion?
Have you clicked on the linked error code in your post? It will take you to the relevant community tip #tutorial page that explains what the error means and steps you can take to resolve it.
Perhaps you took some steps to resolve the error since you posted here. Your site loads fine for me.
I’m getting the same thing. If I hit my url on my desktop browser via chrome everything is fine. Hit it on my iphone safari and get 522.
No difference on mobile network for me.
Hi there user5068,
Sorry to hear you are experiencing some difficulties here.
A 522 error happens when a TCP connection to the web server could not be established. This typically happens when our requests to the origin (your webserver) get blocked. Here is what I recommend in order to ensure all requests from Cloudflare are accepted by your server:
- Make sure that you’re not blocking Cloudflare IPs in
.htaccess
,iptables
, or your firewall. - Make sure your hosting provider isn’t rate limiting or blocking IP requests from the Cloudflare IPs and ask them to allowlist the IP addresses here: https://www.cloudflare.com/ips.
- Make sure the selected SSL option in the Overview tab of the Cloudflare SSL/TLS app is compatible with your hosting service configuration - What do the SSL options mean?
If you are seeing 522 errors in certain locations only, it means you likely forgot to allowlist one of our ranges that corresponds to these locations, so double check to ensure all our IPs are allowlisted appropriately.
If you need us to investigate further on this, please register a support ticket and let us know the number here, happy to help!
Thank you.
Hello everyone,
Thank you for the responses. I am not very tech savvy so all the technical language did not mean much to me as I am sure that is the same for plenty of other people who post on here.
I did manage to find the root of the issue and it was something related to an IP address change from my hosting provider and therefore we had to change the IP address on the Cloudlfare Firewall. Something along those lines, just incase someone also has a similar issue.
Thanks again!
