Connection timed out (error 522) reason for SSL/TLS flex/full/strict modes

After some time and system updates, on both sides (origin server & cloudflare), the root www/html directory started to get the connection timed out (error 522), but subfolders did not get the same error, even on the same domain/site. Now the only app that’s is on the root will throw error 522 always.

its a recently updated apache2 server with phpbb3, which used to work fine.

if the proxy mode is turned off, then the site off course works, so its the cache proxy connection issues.

the weird thing is that the app used to work in the sub-folder, but not now in the root folder.
