Connecting a Subdomain to a Tumblr Blog

Hello,

Our nonprofit is trying to connect a subdomain of ours (stories.wedreamsuccess.org) to a Tumblr blog.

We’ve tried messing with the DNS in our Cloudflare account; though, it is not working. Here is the Tumblr article we were trying to follow; though, we haven’t been able to do much with it: https://tumblr.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/231256548-Custom-domains

Thanks in advance!

Hi @ryan5,

THe DNS record seems to correctly point to domains.tumblr.com as specified in their article. Visiting the address also returns a tumblr page. This would suggest that it is not set up right on their end, have you followed the rest of the guide?

We have tried–whenever we try to add it in Tumblr’s settings, we get this error message: https://a.cl.ly/4gumy2Ad for some reason.

Can you try setting the record to :grey: instead of :orange: if it isn’t already?

Yes, I’ve already tried that and it is currently set to that. I saw somewhere in an article that Tumblr is not compatible with proxy, so we went ahead and switched that function. It’s weird it still hasn’t worked…

Thanks so much for your help!

It all looks OK on Cloudflare’s end, might be worth contacting tumblr if you can, to see if they can explain why it is not validating.

Sorry I couldn’t be of more help!

Here is that record we’ve entered into Cloudflare: https://a.cl.ly/5zuy1BwO

Yes, that all looks fine according to their docs.

No worries, thank you!
