Configuring a custom domain through Carrd

What is the name of the domain?

extrahuman [dot] co

What is the error number?

1000

What is the error message?

Error 1000 Ray ID: 8e7c95e41f001c59 • 2024-11-24 21:45:21 UTC DNS points to prohibited IP

What is the issue you’re encountering

I am trying to configure a custom domain through Carrd. I have configured the DNS records (A & CNAME) as per the instructions here: Using a Custom Domain - Sites - Documentation - Carrd (note, I HAVE selected DNS only / a.k.a. no proxy). After waiting 1 hour, I received the error message above.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

Original entries that resolved with a 1000 error:
A | extrahuman[dot]co | 172.66.0.70 | DNS only | TTL Auto
CNAME | www | extrahuman[dot]co | DNS only | TTL Auto

It looks like Carrd is a CF managed service, so I referred to the instructions here: https://developers.cloudflare.com/support/troubleshooting/cloudflare-errors/troubleshooting-cloudflare-1xxx-errors/#error1000
I updated the records as follows:
A | 65.1xx.xx.137 | 172.66.0.70 | DNS only | TTL Auto
CNAME | www | extrahuman[dot]co | DNS only | TTL Auto
Now, my cloud panel (easypanel) serves a 404 not found error when trying to navigate to www[dot]extrahuman[dot]co.

A bit flummoxed by this, so any advice would be appreciated!

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

DNS records

Have you actually configured the domain in Carrd? Just creating the DNS records isn’t enough: you also need to configure the domain in your Carrd dashboard to associate your domain with the correct Carrd account and site.

If you have already added your configured in Carrd, what does your Carrd dashboard say (for the domain)? Note the last bit of the Carrd support article you provided: “Note: If your dashboard still lists the domain as “(initializing)” after an hour, please refer to the troubleshooting page or simply get in touch[with Carrd] for assistance.”

If anyone else finds themselves in a similar situation in the future, this was resolved through Carrd support.

It turns out that they needed to issue a new certificate for the site.

Hi Arun! Thanks so much for your offer! They (Carrd) finally got it sorted. It seems I was doing everything correctly but they didn’t issue me a SSL certificate. I’m still not sure what that is though…! Thank you though for asking!
