Configure an A record in Cloudflare without it's main domain

What is the name of the domain?

Main domain: abc123.com, sub domain: test-abc123.com

What is the issue you’re encountering

I need to configure an A record in Cloudflare, but without adding the main domain. Is this possible with either a free or Pro plan?

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

DNS records

If you own the main domain registration you can add it in side of Cloudflare dashboard and not create a record for the root of the domain but instead test.abc123.com
You can do this on a free Cloudflare plan.

If you need two different Cloudflare accounts and configurations for your root domain and subdomains you would need an enterprise plan:

Hi @dmartin1,
thanks for your response. I don’t own the main domain; it’s managed by our customer. We only have an “A name” record pointing to our server. Given this setup, can we manage the A record on Cloudflare without its main domain? Is there a way to do this on the free plan, or would we need to consider an enterprise plan?
