Getting Started With Cloudflare

If you’re new to Cloudflare or if you’re unsure of exactly what you need from Cloudflare, you may want to start with a free plan. You can change plan types very easily later and you can have a mixture of all plan types in your account - free, pro, business and enterprise.

You should only have two nameservers and they should both point to Cloudflare.

If your universal ssl certificate has not been provisioned within 24 hours of the site becoming active on Cloudflare, toggle Universal SSL off for 15 minutes and then back on to restart the process.

Only use “I’m Under Attack!” mode when a website is under a DDoS attack. “I’m Under Attack!” mode may affect some your domain and/or your API traffic. Only use it when you need it.

Bot Management

Bot Management is an Enterprise feature. Contact your Customer Success Manager to enable Bot Management.

The Cloudflare network routes traffic based on priority and peering. This results in the fastest path not being the shortest path geographically, but it is the shortest path.
