SSL certificates can often be issued in 10-15 minutes. If you are using free Universal SSL, it can take up to 24 hours. Please do not reach out for support until it has been “authorizing” for more than a day. Before contacting support, you may be able to successfully trouble shoot the issue with some of these Quick Fix Ideas.
Quick Fix Ideas
If you are using a CNAME set up, you need to also manually add SSL verification records on the DNS tab. Contact Cloudflare Customer Support for more information.
If your certificate has been issued, but you’re still seeing issues on your site, please clear your browser’s cache or try Incognito/Private Browsing Mode.
On the Crypto tab, turn off Universal SSL, wait a few minutes, then turn it back on to restart the provisioning process for your SSL certificate.
Provisining starts after you change your name servers to Cloudflare. It will take about 24 hours after you point the name servers to Cloudflare for the certificate to issue.
Cloudflare’s Universal SSL certificates only cover
.example.com. It won’t cover
www.subdomain.example.com. If you need a deeper subdomain with HTTPS, such as
www.subdomain.example.com, then you’ll need the Dedicated Certificate with Custom Hostnames option.
If you have waited 24 hours and there has been no change, you should contact support and include the following information:
How long has it been “authorizing” for?
What of the trouble shooting steps above have you tried?
What is the plan level for the domain in question?
What error, if any, is displaying on your site at the moment?
Are you signed up directly through Cloudflare or through a hosting provider/partner?
