Com.au is not a registered domain

Hi,

We are trying to add a com.au domain but we are getting below error

com.au is not a registered domain

but the domain is already registered long time ago,

Thanks

Do you already own a domain and you’re trying to set it up on Cloudflare, or are you trying to register a new domain?

If you already own a domain, you need to enter the full domain name such as “yourdomain.com.au” not just “com.au”. If it doesn’t work post the full domain name here. Most common reason it wouldn’t work is if the domain doesn’t have any existing nameserver entries. But without knowing the domain nobody can say.

If you’re trying to register a new domain… Cloudflare Registrar doesn’t support .AU yet so you’d need to register it through another registrar. Once registered you could then set it up for Cloudflare DNS. And you’d potentially be able to transfer to Cloudflare Registrar later if they ever add support.

Hi,

Yes i own the domain and i already added the Cloudflare nameserver into the domain and i am using the full domain name mydomainname.com.au but still i am not able to add the domain into the Cloudflare from last two days i am trying to add but still same error

Thanks

If you don’t post the actual domain name nobody will be able to tell you what’s wrong but the most common error is that the domain doesn’t have existing nameservers for Cloudflare to gather data from. Have you verified using dig & whois?

You shouldn’t use Cloudflare nameservers until you’re told which two to use for that specific domain - and if you’re getting the <domain> is not a registered domain error then you haven’t been told yet.

Hi,

I already have many com.au domain and i know the nameserver for my account and my domain is - warbyviewsestate.com.au is not a registered domain

Thanks

Cloudflare nameserver pairs are assigned by domain, not by account. While they are often the same pair assigned to other domains in the account, there is no guarantee that they will be. Activating a domain on Cloudflare requires that domain have working nameservers before the Cloudlflare name servers are entered at the registrar,

Hi,

Look like no one have proper solution.

Thanks

Ehm, @user4358 has posted the correct answer an hour ago already. And @KianNH and @epic.network have even elaborated on that. There’s no “more solution”. You need to fix your setup.

Cloudflare needs to be able to query existing nameservers for the domain in order to gather data it needs to set up the domain on its own servers.

If you change the nameservers to Cloudflare nameservers prematurely it’s impossible for it to work.

The registrar you registered the domain with should have nameservers available for you to use, probably. You need to go back to using their nameservers (or other non-Cloudflare nameservers) until you’re actually instructed to change the nameservers to Cloudflare’s
