CNAME Subdomain 404

Hi all, Kelly here… I am new to cloudflare community

and I just set up a new account with my domain
seems to work fine and my question is I am trying to
add a CNAME record to point to one of my landing pages …

I did this
I added CNAME “offer”
I want to call it “offer” which would look like this: offer.mywebsite.com
or https://offer.mywebsite.com

Then the CONTENT which I pointed to a domain that is hosting my page
and then Saved it… it took in cloudflare fine

But
and when I go to offer.mywebsite.com I get a ERROR 404 NOT FOUND ?

Can anyone tell me why this does not work the way it should set this up to work correctly
and maybe give me some insight what to do and troubleshot this?

I wanted to have my landing page show up on the: https://offer.mywebsite.com

PLEASE PLEASE
ADVISE

KELLY

Your server needs to be configured to serve traffic for https://offer.mywebsite.com. A.k.a. virtualhost.

Sorry, Domjh I just am stuck trying to make a CNAME record work and im not sure if its because im on the free plan? Can you use CNAME of the free plan? if so how do i get one to work it seems simple
to just add record and content?

Please advise

Kelly

Cloudflare won’t return a 404, that must be coming from your server. Try changing the CNAME record from :orange: to :grey:. This means that Cloudflare will not be involved and any issues come straight from your server. If you can’t get it working, you should then speak to your developer or web host for assistance. Once it’s all working, you can switch the CNAME back to :orange: to enable Cloudflare, if you want.

Thanks Domjh

domjh using the CNAME in the free version is that OK?
I have been playing around with it for days?

or does it have to be upgraded just seems not to work?

Kelly

There is no limitation on the use of CNAME DNS records on any plan. You don’t need to upgrade for this.

Have you set it to :grey:? Are you still getting the same issue of a 404?
