When proxied the CNAME for www is breaking the site and causing an endless redirect loop. We want the site URL to be https://(WITHOUT WWW)holusnaturals. We have done a lot of troubleshooting with our server tech support team and it has been narrowed down to this is the source of the issue.
Before implementing the following, ensure that your apex name is working correctly over HTTPS when accessed directly at https://example.com
.
- Replace the
www
CNAME with an AAAA record of100:
- Make sure that it is
proxied.
- Use a redirect rule to redirect to your apex name.
You may want to refer to example 2 in the cheat sheet.
Thank you for your help. I don’t know what our apex name is or how to tell if it is working. If the apex name means https:// holus naturals << this used to work. But somehow it is now registering as a 301 according to screaming frog and google search console (shows all of our actual pages as redirected). This is the issue I need to get fixed.
Your apex name is your domain without any prefix, like the example.com
I used earlier.
If that isn’t working, you should fix that before you do anything else. Best that you pause Cloudflare and work with your host to ensure that loads over HTTPS.
I will try this again, but I’m pretty sure this is what I did yesterday with our host. I will call them to confirm. Thank you again.
