CNAME not working for Zoho Mail

What is the issue you’re encountering

I am very new to domains and DNS setup so please help. I bought a domain with Cloudflare, and the only thing I want to do with it for now is using it for Mail. I followed the instructions to update my DNS records and add the CNAME record. Verification on Zoho however fails.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

I followed the instructions, . Added a CNAME record and made sure to have the grey cloud (DNS Only).

I also checked on mxtoolbox and it doesn’t show up there.

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

Is this the only record Zoho asked you to add?

In any case, you should think carefully if you really want to use this domain. I would expect it to get blocked sooner rather than later due to it’s name.

Correct, that is the first step. They then give a link to their tool to check the DNS settings, and there the CNAME does not appear

PS.Before I get a new domain, I at least want to see if I can get something as straight forward as the mail working

You have entered .com instead of .io in the test in your screenshot.
