On www.mappingeurope.com I can’t seem to make changes that eradicate error 1016. Right now I have paused cloudflare and still can’t reach my site.
The issue seems to be in the CNAME set up, but I know little about this. I hope someone can help. one cname entry is www which is set to cloudflare-resolve-to.mappingeurope.com. I’m using www.mappingeurope.com by a redirect in .htaccess. I’ve tried deleting .htaccess, but nothing changes.
What record do you have configured in Cloudflare? Currently I can see
www.mappingeurope.com. 300 IN CNAME cloudflare-resolve-to.mappingeurope.com.
but I see nothing for the apex mappingeurope.com. Where is the site hosted? Have you consulted documentation from the provider to configure the required DNS records properly (i.e. with the correct record type and value?)
You need to enter your hosting providers address on the right side of the record. cloudflare-resolve-to… Is certainly not the name or ip that your host gave you.
Sorry if I didn’t understand, but I changed the mappingeurope.com content to: cloudflare-resolve-to.75.98.175.84 as that’s the ip address the host said to use. Is this right?
The cloudflare-resolve.to part was set up automagicallty by cloudflare during setup. So, right now, I can’t add an A record because it tells me I already have a CNAME entry with that address. So do I change the CNAME back so they don’t reflect the ip address? Delete them? Thanks very much
Bingo! Yes, I was going to delete the CNAME, but couldn’t find the delete button! But when I saw your post I knew there had to be one and it all worked. Thanks everyone!
