Cname dns resolution error wildcart

What is the name of the domain?

mwspace.ai

What is the issue you’re encountering

We’ve configured a wildcard CNAME DNS record on our domain, which we provide to our customers to display dynamic content on their own domains. However, we’re experiencing inconsistent behavior depending on the customer’s domain provider.

Working Example:

Our own domain works correctly:

gpt.mwspace.com => CNAME => site-key-679667a413e2ed78f1ae94df.mwspace.ai

Non-Working Examples:

Customer domain (hosted elsewhere):

gpt.itasricami.it => CNAME => site-key-67dbfd3bd2f9ff546a576379.mwspace.ai

Error message: “Error 1001 Ray ID: 9234f1ab0ca7ee7e • DNS resolution error”

Additional error: “ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH” (SSL protocol not supported)

A CNAME just resolves to the IP addresses of the target (in this case on Cloudflare), and as your customer’s domain isn’t on Cloudflare, Cloudflare’s edge is rejecting the request for that domain.

Instead you need to use Cloudflare for SaaS which is designed for this…

Error 1014

Ray ID: 92a0274a4fc824cf • 2025-04-02 11:58:16 UTC

CNAME Cross-User Banned

Error 1014 happens when a domain on Cloudflare CNAMEs to another that is in a different Cloudflare account. Again, you need to use Cloudflare for SaaS.
