Cloudflare will not refund failed domain transfers

I have had an open ticket for over 11 days now with billing.

I orginally attempted to transfer 17 domains in, had issue with bank. Resovled them by phone.

3 domains transferred. 6 transfers ended up being charged for without a domain transfered

I read troubleshooting, attempted to retransfer one of the 6 and it failed also this time with “Something went wrong” error.

Well support wants me to keep trying to transfer domains here, wont refund me money lol.

How do I talk to support so they will refund me for the 7 transfers?

They said they wont do anything for me beyond tell me to keep attempting transfers.

I mean I do not want to transfer to cloudflare anymore, its not worth the pain.

I would love to just dispute the charges and be done with this whole situation.

But worried if I did if my 3 domains would become hostage at Cloudflare.

Just wondering if anybody has any insight on this type of situation?

Post the ticket number here, @cloonan will take a look.

Hi @private1, no, taking hostages is most definitely not something we’d do. Sorry for the issues you’re encountering and like @matteo, please share the details here so that I can take a look.

Thank you @private1, I added myself to the ticket and see that billing is on the ticket as well and I’ll keep track of progress.

I really wanted things to work, and was hyped to move 120 domains to try your service.

I moved a few domains just to the dns services and I have liked the results.

Maybe I will try your domain services in the future. Hopefully on better terms lol

The fact you are getting responses is a good sign, especially since they are coming from humans.
A friend of mine recently lost his domain due to false accusations from his domain provider (“phising” was the reason given but they had no evidence or whatsoever), he owned a game with on average 500 concurrent visitors… you can imagine how big of a loss that is , the result is that he only receives automated responses, which may not be fully automated but are clearly from a template the people behind the screen must follow. I saw the entire situation and it was frustrating, to say the least.

I don’t think you will face similar similar situations with cloudflare, in fact, I’m thinking of moving some of my domains too! Cloudflare has in general very good terms and from what I experienced myself, the support, even if its slow is at least human and good.

I hope so, maybe I can just chalk up the response so far to the ongoing plague effect, on responses or in-depth reviews.

@jnperamo oh that sucks, hopefully he can find resolution someday.

I ran an online game from 2004 to 2011, it had a decent amount of users even though it was just browser based. I knew the people working at Godaddy so never had any issue back then. But if something had happen like that it would have destroyed me at that time. Though google found a way to destroy my revenue and ended my game. But that’s a whole different story lol

Wish your friend luck, its tough building something and not being able to see it though because of out your control circumstances.

@cloonan

I guess they couldn’t get to my ticket today, but I had a few questions about this issue.

The 7 failed transfers didn’t start the transfer process, so I am not sure why billing didn’t just refund them? Even in the text from these failures it said it wouldn’t charge me. Also I think futures transfers are broken on my account because of the issue with the one I tried to transfer twice.

This is my first time using Cloudflare, but I have been on many registers before. Transferred many names at other places.

I am going through the domains and all so far are showing a series of icann holds that I suspect are preventing the transfer.

Domain Status: clientTransferProhibited http://www.icann.org/epp#clientTransferProhibited
Domain Status: clientUpdateProhibited EPP Status Codes | What Do They Mean, and Why Should I Know? - ICANN
Domain Status: clientRenewProhibited EPP Status Codes | What Do They Mean, and Why Should I Know? - ICANN
Domain Status: clientDeleteProhibited EPP Status Codes | What Do They Mean, and Why Should I Know? - ICANN

Godaddy can clear those and I suspect if they do, they’ll all transfer, perhaps without having to kick off a retry. Will continue checking…

I did lock all the domains back on the 18th since I wasn’t going to continue to try to transfer them.

ah, ok thank you. That will prevent them from going forward. I note that on the ticket.

the 3 that did transfer went through the correct process of a transfer.

The others never got the auth code and never activated a real transfer. All transfers were bugged because of errors due to the transaction on my side due to bank.

The one I retried to transfer a second time was the strange “Something went wrong error”. Auth code never activated transfer also, but at the same time said it wouldn’t charge me lol

Yeah I stated in the ticket I didn’t want to continue to try to transfer domains and stack charges.

If they want me to bug test my account I need a refund first and then I can attempt another transfer with a different domain, if they want me to do that.

If they look at both invoices they can see the same domain being charged for twice for different transfer charges.

I also had the same problem as you.

How was the issue resolved?
