Cloudflare unicast IPs are missing the PTR record

#1

Not a major issue since the IPs are listed here https://www.cloudflare.com/ips/ but I think it is better to add a record for reverse DNS lookups for your data-centers. Could be something generic like ip.cloudflare.com. Or was it intentional to leave out the record?

$ dig @1.1.1.1 TXT resolver.dnscrypt.info +short
"Resolver IP: 172.68.85.83"
$ dig @1.1.1.1 -x 172.68.85.83 +short

I think there is already:

1.1.1.1.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer 1dot1dot1dot1.cloudflare-dns.com.

Edit: oh, sorry, read too fast. You mean the unicast IPs. Yes, that could be definitely useful!

Meanwhile you can use https://www.cloudflare.com/cdn-cgi/tracepoof to check what datacenter you are hitting.

Thanks for the link.
I’ve changed the title to avoid further confusion :slight_smile:
