Cloudflare says: Make sure all A, AAAA, and CNAME records pointing to proxied records are also proxied to avoid exposing your origin IP

Hello Cloudflare,

When I login to my account under DNS it says:

“Make sure all A, AAAA, and CNAME records pointing to proxied records are also proxied to avoid exposing your origin IP.”

Quite a few of the first records have exclimation points next to them are set to “DNS ONLY” and the warning says: “This record exposes your original IP. To fix this, change the proxy status”

Should I change each of the statuses with exclimation points to “proxied”?

Will this mess up my site?

Thanks,

Nick

Keep in mind that Cloudflare only proxies HTTP/S traffic. If that hostname is used for FTP, SSH, or Mail, it needs to be :grey:.

Hosting mail on the same server is going to expose your origin IP address. For FTP and SSH, I just connect direct to the IP address so I don’t go through Cloudflare.

So by having it as it is, nothing will be negatively effected?

If nothing’s broken, leave it alone. If hiding your Origin IP address is a priority for you, then start thinking about moving your mail to a different server.
