Cloudflare & Route53 Name Servers

I’m trying to get Cloudflare working with my domain which is e.g. www.mydomain.com. The domain is registered in AWS Route53. I’ve changed the name servers in Route53 to Cloudflare nameservers as instructed.

The change has propagated to some DNS servers but ICANN dns lookup is still showing the old amazon name servers and Cloudflare is still showing ‘Pending Name Server Update’ status. I’ve run a check on intodns and it shows the following errors:

So questions:

  • Am I missing something? - Is it possible to do what I’m trying to do?
  • The SOA record in Route 53 look like
    ns-1438.awsdns-51. awsdns-hostmaster.amazon… 1 7200 900 1209600 86400

Could the fact that still references one of the AWS DNS servers cause the errors seen?

That doesn’t seem right, as I don’t think Amazon is a domain registrar. You need to change the name servers at your domain registrar. Not in DNS’s “NS” records.
