Cloudflare Registrar "Contact domain" function

What is the name of the domain?

domaincontact.cloudflareregistrar.com

What is the error number?

None

What is the error message?

Message unable to send; There was a problem with your request.; Try again

What is the issue you’re encountering

Trying to test what the subdomain is for? It seems like you are supposed to be able to contact domain owners but it does not work.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

Tried again a few times, same error.
Also got a bad gateway once.

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

Go to https://domaincontact.cloudflareregistrar.com/
Try to send a message

Have you tried from another network?

And if so, did that change anything? Any different errors code(s)/message(s)?

To some degree, - yes.

Out of curiosity, what domain name are you trying to contact?

It works at my end.

But if you look at the form’s fields, Confirm the Domain Name” seems out of place. That’s because you’re not to use the subdomain itself directly. The full URL you see in WHOIS/RDAP lookups has the specific domain at the end, eg https://domaincontact.cloudflareregistrar.com/cloudflare.com

Have you tried from another network?

No, I only have the one network I can try.

Out of curiosity, what domain name are you trying to contact?

I tried to contact my own domain name after seeing the link in WHOIS. I was/am also just curious about that.

It works at my end.

So who did you end up contacting?
The domain owner, Cloudflare or both?

Initially, I tried it just as it is written in WHOIS but that did not work. Not using a domain as path for https://domaincontact.cloudflareregistrar.com/ did not change anything.
I could not find any info about this site, hence my curiosity of its purpose.

No, you’re misunderstanding this.

What I wrote was:

So the URL I gave was just an example, for the domain cloudflare.com. So in this specific example, you’re contacting the owner of cloudflare.com

If your specific domain is example.com, this becomes https://domaincontact.cloudflareregistrar.com/example.com

All I’m saying is, it works for me. Screenshot below.

Note that this, by itself, doesn’t reveal any information about the domain.

It merely forwards the message to the registrant email address for the domain. It’s up to the domain’s owner whether to respond or not. Below is an example message:

Alright, thank you for those infos!
I wonder why it did not work for me?

I will troubleshoot this further sometime in the future.
It feels suspicious and not trustworthy to own a domain that cannot be contacted via the registrar’s form.
