Cloudflare received a DMCA copyright infringement complaint regarding: example.com

I have received a complaint from the copyright holder about the content on my site:
“Cloudflare received a DMCA copyright infringement complaint regarding: example.com
[claim text]
We have forwarded this complaint to your hosting provider.
Regards,
Cloudflare Trust & Safety”

Questions:

  1. cloudflare forwarded the request to my hoster. I wrote to my hoster about the measures taken. Should I also respond to cloudflare? and how to do it?

  2. After my response to the hoster, the hoster redirects the response to cloudflare. In this case, cloudflare will redirect this response to the copyright holder and thereby show him the hosting on which my site is located?

When you submit an abuse report at Abuse approach - Cloudflare you will receive a confirmation email with a confirmation code in the Subject. While the Trust and Safety team reviewed the details of your report, that may be the only reply you receive.

You can also report the site to your relevant local authorities. Complaints cannot be escalated via this forum.

In general, no, Cloudflare does not need to know that anything was done to remove the content. CF doesn’t take down sites even over multiple DMCA complaints, as they’ve been cleared to simply forward the DMCA complaint to the hoster and allow the rights holder to contact the VPS provider instead of being forced to block access to infringing content.

I believe Cloudflare immediately forwards the IP address of the origin server to the copyright owner, so they probably already have the IP address and thus also have your hoster’s company name.

it turns out that anyone can determine the ip of any site that works through cloudflare?

Only if Trust and Safety feels it’s a legitimate need.
