Cloudflare pending update due to DS record, but DNSSEC is off + no DS record

What is the name of the domain?

ivanempire.com

What is the error number?

N/A

What is the error message?

Cloudflare cannot provide authoritative DNS resolution for ivanempire.com because there is an active DS Record at your domain registrar.

What is the issue you’re encountering

Although there are no DS records on my domain and DNSSEC is disabled, Cloudflare can’t seem to provide DNS for my domain

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

  1. Removed the domain from Cloudflare and added it back again (I got 2 new nameservers), so I am on attempt #2.
  2. Manually checked to make sure DNSSEC is disabled on Namecheap (it is)
  3. Looked up records + emailed Namecheap to have them manually remove any DS records, they said there aren’t any

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

Filing this out for completeness but transferring a domain with no DS records causes a “pending nameserver update” message to hang for days on end.

Where exactly do you see this error message?

… Can you perhaps attach a screenshot?

I can confirm that there are no DS records and that DNSSEC appears to be disabled right now.

Things do however take time to propagate in the DNS system, so if it’s just like a couple of hours ago, since you got them removed, that may be able to explain why.

Hey thanks for taking a look!
I read that error message in the email I got from Cloudflare this morning, see attached screenshot. I figured things take time, because previous domains were faster, but I started this process last Monday, and restarted it this Friday, thinking something was up.

And when exactly did you ask Namecheap to deactivate the DS record?

Restarting it may be a bad idea, as it will likely only slow things down.

If you scroll down on your DNS records page, what name servers are you assigned to right now?

https://dash.cloudflare.com/?to=/:account/:zone/dns

I emailed them as a follow-up today, but I never had that feature enabled (and not sure if there’s something present by default that isn’t publicly visible?). The moment I answered your previous comment I got an email saying it’s all set on Cloudflare, but dang this was the longest I’ve ever waited for this. Thanks for the input! Closing as resolved
