I run a platform based on the ILIAS software for a school, and I use Cloudflare to protect it from attacks.
Unfortunately, Cloudflare proxying the traffic makes the site significantly slower, please compare:
with Cloudflare proxy - https://ilias.sufband.net
without CF proxy - http://ilias_noproxy.sufband.net (no https)
Cloudflare has helped greatly with HTTPS which means that I may encounter some problems with HTTPS without CF proxying (easier with CF proxy), which is why in this case I have provided the non-proxy link with no HTTPS.
Would anyone be able to advise what I could do to fix this please? I’ve never seen it this slow before.
So, you don’t have an valid SSL certificate installed at your origin host/server for your domain name and you are using Flexible SSL option under the SSL/TLS tab of Cloudflare dashboard for your domain name?
No - I’ve got ‘full’ option enabled with SSL on the origin server.
Last time I turned off proxying there was a HSTS error which made the site inaccessible. I would work to fix this if I had to remove CF proxying but this is a last resort. Surely this wouldn’t be the issue causing the slowness?
