CloudFlare Images vs Cloudinary for Magento Store

For Workes & Pages, what is the name of the domain?

What is the error number?

What is the issue or error you’re encountering

Evaluating Cloudflare Images vs Cloudinary - primarily for image resizing and optimisation

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

As above - as part of the WebPageTest.org site speed tests, have seen a report from Cloudinary that suggests some major image optimisation - proper sizes, image optimisation etc is available.

We currently use CloudWays for hosting - including their basic Cloudflare DNS integration, which does include CF’s Polish.

(Bear in mind these c80% improvements were with Polish activated).

Looking at CF Images, what amount of coding or changes need to be implimented? Does CFI simply process the images on the fly, given the current image, or does it need to be hardcoded with options etc?
We’re currently use Magento 2.6…

Im not a dev myself (Im marketing, but an “intelligent end user” ) .

We have c100Gb of images, so from what I read CFI is more cost effective than CLoudinary?

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

Hi there,

As for performance, I would say that that’s something you’ll have to test for yourself, because for the most part you might only get biased opinions here. This is Cloudflare ommunity.

I would argue that Cloudflare images might be better as you get not only the images product itself, but also Cloudflare massive infrastructure, but I don’t know Cloudinary, and opening their website, it seems they’re also using Cloudflare infrastructure, at least in their website. Assuming they’re also using Cloudflare in the backend, both might perform fairly similar. This is merely an assumption though, as I’m not going to poke around in any Cloudflare customer account.

As for pricing, here’s Cloudflare images pricing:

Take care.
