Cloudflare has wrong information about DNS zone hosting

When I try to setup my sight, I get the notice
Your DNS zone file is hosted by *** , a Cloudflare partner. Manage your DNS records at their website.

Except my DNS zone IS NOT hosted at ***.

Also I need to to setup my development site first to make sure that this works. I can’t find information about setting up a subdomain without putting the main domain on cloudflare.

Moving the DNS to cloudflare will not work for me.

As a rule, you can’t do this. You don’t need to move anything but DNS over, but Cloudflare requires that you transfer nameservers unless you’re able to purchase a Business account and use a CNAME setup.

Was your domain previously with that partner? And/or are you sure that some aspect of your current hosting isn’t with that partner (perhaps under a different retail brand?)

My webserver is there, but My DNS is not. Never has been.
I don’t have a problem purchasing the the business plan for cnames, but I need to know if it works. Content on our site get displayed differently by subscription level. I need to see what happens.
