I am seeking assistance with a DNS configuration issue for my domain, formip.com, which is currently managed through Cloudflare. Despite setting up the necessary records, I am encountering difficulties in resolving the domain correctly.
Here are the key points of my current setup:
My domain formip.com is registered with Hostinger, and I have set Cloudflare as my DNS provider.
I have configured Cloudflare DNS settings with CNAME records pointing formip.com and www.formip.com to formip.thinkific.com, following the guidelines provided by my learning platform, Thinkific.
Previously, there was a 301 redirect from formip.com to https://formip.thinkific.com set up in Hostinger, which I have removed, assuming it would be handled through Cloudflare DNS settings.
Cloudflare’s dashboard prompted me to add an A, AAAA, or CNAME record for the root domain so that formip.com will resolve. I have set the CNAME for www to DNS only mode as advised by Thinkific.
Despite these configurations, when I try to access formip.com, I encounter a DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error, indicating that the domain cannot be resolved.
I would appreciate any insights or suggestions from the community on how to resolve this issue. Is there a specific configuration I am missing, or is there a step in the process that needs to be adjusted?
Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.
I had my doubts about making my Formip point com domain primary, since it doesn’t work…
And I’ve just done it, but the problem is that now my Thinkific site is inactive…
I can’t connect to it because the main domain is formip point com…
Small question again,
I need to do more than 350 301 redirects, in order to switch the URL’s of my old articles to the new nomenclature.
I have Cloudflare’s free offer, which allows me to do 3 redirects. And if I take more, for example 95, it costs $95.
I’d like to know if I switch my domain directly to cloudflare, for the $20/month offer, I wouldn’t be limited anymore, and could configure my 301 redirects?
Because my big SEO problem is that my old URLs are domain + article title, and the new ones are domain + pages + blog + article title…
So I can’t just create a general rule, because that would include the home page…
You can have 10 Redirect Rules on the Free Plan. 3 is the limit for Page Rules.
While Page Rules can also be used for redirects, Redirect Rules should be preferred.
First, I think you should redirect formip.com to www.formip.com:
Then, you can make the redirect for your SEO purposes. You might have to create more than one of these, I have no idea how many paths you can fit in one rule:
Thanks again Laudian for helping me to see things more clearly.
I took the Cloudflare pro offer because I would have more than 350 articles to redirect in order not to lose in SEO.
I’ve configured all the rules, as well as a few grouped redirection rules, to see if it’s ok.
