Cloudflare does not recognise my site

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

Hi there, I have a long winded issue. I have an old site built on wordpress and hosted on GoDaddy called Sajjeling.com. I wanted a post deleted (Digging Deeper) and went into the backend to delete it, but it stayed online. I tried many things, but it stayed online. I contatced GoDaddy, but they said the site was hosted on Cloudflare, even though we never organised that. Cloudlflare did not recognise my email or logins, so I tried to add the plugin via wordpress backend. But to do that, I needed to upgrade to the Pro Plan, which I paid for. At that point, my entire backend dissapeared, including all my posts and media.

I cannot find the old backend anywhere, and Cloudflare continues to say it doesn’t host Sajjeling. I have made an account with Cloudflare, instaleld the plugin but it continues to say I need to migrate my domain, even thought it says on ICANLOOKUP that Cloudflare hosts my site.
Could someone help me work this out? Thanks.

Your site is using Cloudflare…

…and has since 2018-07-27 according to securitytrails.com.

Cloudflare is not hosting your site though, Cloudflare is a proxy that sits between users and your web server/host, protects it and adds caching and so on. It may be your site is still hosted at Godaddy, but this can’t be seen due to the Cloudflare proxy in front of it.

Someone will have set this up for you, perhaps a developer or previous member of staff.

You can try to locate the Cloudflare account where the domain is current active…

If you are unable to access that account you’ll need to take control of the DNS by changing the nameservers at your registrar to those for your new Cloudflare account, or another DNS provider. But you’ll need to find out where your site is actually hosted though to be able to point at it. You are likely paying for hosting so check your credit card bills for any clues.

Hi there, thank you for getting back to me so quickly.

I have contacted GoDaddy and they say they are not hosting the site and have no products associated with the site.

We used to host it via GoDaddy and had an active account with them, but the account lapsed after many years, and upon logging in, it says no product is associated with the account.

Let me know what else you think we can do here.

Thanks.

The footer of your website says it is hosted at wordpress.com.

Wordpress says it doesn’t host the site, having followed up with them many times, they were the ones who pointed me to Cloudflare.

You can try to submit your email on the contact page “follow us” signup and see if the email headers give away the server IP address, from where you may be able to determine the host.

Other than finding the host, or the person who set up Cloudflare for you, there aren’t any options. Cloudflare won’t give you any information about an account you cannot access.
