I’ve added a site that I created on No IP, under dynamic DNS, there I created the hostname with .zapto.org. However, I don’t seem to be able to add the name servers that Cloudflare is asking me to input at my domain registrar: so I can’t get the DNS active on Cloudflare without being able to add the server names to No IP.
Is it possible to add the server names from Cloudflare to the domain I created at No IP?
So far I can’t seem to find the section to update the name servers which Cloudflare provided to me.
The idea here was to have No IP as a free domain (Dynamic DNS) whilst using Cloudflare as the DNS provider, but from the looks of things it doesn’t seem possible to do, do I have that right?
Any clarification on this I would be grateful for.
Your need a domain on the Public Suffix List to be able to add it to Cloudflare using a full setup. You also need to be able to set the nameservers for that domain at the registrar or issuer in the case of public second level domain. That is going to prevent you from using most domains that you didn’t pay someone to register.
You can use a CNAME that points to your No-IP name, but you would still need your own domain. With the Cloudflare API you can have DDNS with your own domain, so there is little point to ussign a CNAME to reach your No-IP hostname, unless you just really didn’t want to configure Cloudflare DDNS.
The domain zapto.org is on the PSL. You may be able to have No-IP set the required nameserver records to delegate your child zone to Cloudflare if you have an appropriate No-IP subscription and contact their support. You will need to clarify that with No-IP.
Thanks for the help with this, I’ll stop wasting my time and buy a domain – though out of curiosity I’ll ask No IP support team and see what they say about it.
