DNS successfully points to the correct IP, but end users cannot access the website content. The issue is intermittent - sometimes clearing browser cache or using incognito mode can temporarily resolve it, but usually fails again within 5 minutes.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

  1. Confirmed DNS is correctly pointing to my IP address
  2. Verified the reverse server is functioning properly
  3. Attempted clearing browser cache and using incognito browsing
  4. Created an alternative domain on GoDaddy (guanshan.donghow.com.tw) which displays correctly and consistently, proving the issue is likely on Cloudflare’s end

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

  1. Visit guanshan.light-app.org in a regular browser
  2. Observe that the website does not load or displays an error
  3. Clear browser cache or use incognito mode
  4. Website may temporarily display correctly
  5. Wait approximately 5 minutes and try accessing again
  6. Website will likely fail to load again
  7. For comparison, visit guanshan.donghow.com.tw which works consistently with the same server configuration but using GoDaddy DNS

Problem Cause
After thorough investigation, it was found that the SSL/TLS setting in Cloudflare did not match the HTTPS configuration on the origin server. This mismatch caused some users to experience connection failures or redirect errors, resulting in the website being intermittently inaccessible.

Solution
Adjust the SSL/TLS mode in the Cloudflare dashboard to “Flexible” mode.

That’s not a good solution. The connection between Cloudflare and your origin is now unecrypted by using “Flexible”. If it doesn’t work with “Full (strict)” mode, there is a problem with using SSL on our origin that you need to fix there.
