I am trying to edit my file using the file manager on my hosting, but it’s not allowing me to view or edit it. When I click on the file, it says, ‘You have been blocked.’ I have already turned off security settings on my Cloudflare account, but the issue persists. what is best solution or how to unblock that file and from where?
I’d go with connecting to the FTP via FTP software like FIleZilla, download the file, modify, and upload & overwrite it.
Sounds to me like you’re accessing via cPanel sub-domain or path of your domain, which is proxied
Best practice for security concerns is to access ti via your Web hosting provider’s domain, and remove cPanel DNS record (if you have one at DNS tab of Cloudflare dashboard).
Furthermore, since you’re getting blocked, may I ask if you’re using Free or Paid plan type?
I’d suggest you to double-check the Security → Events at Cloudflare dashboard under your Cloudflare account for your zone.
You should be able to see the challenged or blocked event under the Security tab → Events at Cloudflare dashboard for your zone and know exactly which security option was triggered. Could be Managed Rules my best guess, otherwise Bot Fight Mode or Browser Integrity Check.
If you’re on a paid plan, you can add Exception rule to SKIP the specific Managed Rule.
Step by step described here for another case:
Otherwise, use my suggestion from above about FTP or Web hosting provider’s domain.
Even bad idea is to modify files through WordPress interface. I’d suggest to disable such feature due to security reasons, vulnerabillity, etc.
This is a know thing which come up multiple times already via
