Client's web designer has passed away

I’m in a bit of a pickle. A client has contacted me because their website has stopped working and they can not receive emails. They are unable to gain access to their web host because their web developer that has all the login information has sadly passed away.

They were able to find out their domain name was purchased via crazydomains.com.au, and after contacting support and verifying some information they were able to have that account recovered.

Now their domain nameservers point to Cloudflare and not to their actual web host. We do not have the Cloudflare user or password so it seems like this would be difficult to recover. Is there any other way of figuring out where the website was hosted so we can attempt to recover the hosting login information?

You could contact Cloudflare support an explain the situation. They will ask a lot Iot of questions

Thers’s also a chance that there are DNS records leaking the origin IP.

Hi @craig11, you are heading in the right direction and with control of the domain, you have options. As @MarkMeyer mentioned, Support may be able to assist, login & go to https://dash.cloudflare.com/?account=support and select get more help. Please give Support the complete details and link to your Community post. They’ll need a lot of details to verify ownership. It may be easier & more expedient to add the domain to your new account and take it over from the old account. Your registrar recognizes your control over the account and will allow you to make changes to the name servers, that seems fastest route.
