What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

Reached out to smarterasp, they say I need root, intermediate and domain cert.

"Dear Customer,

Please refer to below link to convert Certificate Key and Private Key .pfx file and then import it to our server, but please firstly make sure your .crt file is valid that contains three certificates, root, intermediate and domain certificate.

  1. Request CSR from smarterAsp
  2. Paste csr in creation steps for for client cert in Cloudflare.
  3. Upload new cert in smarterAsp
  4. “Error: The SSL certificate that you’re about to install must be generated from a CSR that’s created in our hosting control panel.”

What you want is probably an Origin certificate, not a Client certificate.

You can find the root certificate here: Origin CA certificates | Cloudflare SSL/TLS docs
However, Origin certificates do not have an intermediate certificate. If your host does not accept certificates without an intermediate, you can’t use Cloudflare’s Origin certificate.
