Cleaning DNS records

Hi there,

I need assistance maintaining my DNS records. I recently had to resolve an email deliverability issue which caused me a lot of angst. I’m not an IT person and so any help from staff and expert folks would be greatly appreciated.

I bought my domain from GoogleDomains which is hosted with Cloudflare. (I’m now trying to transfer the domain from GoogleDomains to Cloudflare).

Also, I’m using Ghost CMS to create the site. And finally, I’m using Apple iCloud+ custom email domain to use my email.

I have previously used WordPress to create my site which was hosted with DreamHost. However, I’m neither with WordPress nor DreamHost anymore. And so, I’d be happy to remove these.

Under my DNS set-up, I currently have:

10 A name
2 CNAMEfiles
4 MXrecords
1 SRV
4 TXTfiles

Could anyone please help me identify the records that may be potentially causing conflict and/or are no longer required? I’d be happy for staff to remove any unnecessary records that do not belong to Cloudflare or Ghost or Apple email set-up.

Could you please assist.

Hi there,

I need urgent assistance with my website. I recently transferred my domain from GoogleDomains to Cloudflare. However, now my site has gone offline. Instead, it now shows a parked DreamHost page.

A background - I had previously bought my domain from Google. I transferred my domain to Cloudflare today. Also, I’m using Ghost CMS to create the site. And finally, I’m using Apple iCloud+ custom emaildomain to use my custom email.

[please note: I have previously used WordPress to create my site which was hosted with DreamHost. However, I’m neither with WordPress nor DreamHost anymore.]

Could you please help me get my site up and running again please?

I look forward to hearing soon from you.

Please help.

So where are you hosting your site then and did this work fine on HTTPS before you used Cloudflare?

As for the DNS entries, only your host can tell you which ones you need.

It is best you pause Cloudflare for now and contact your host to clarify which DNS entries you need. Once you have configured them, verify that your site loads fine on HTTPS. If it does not load, contact your host again.

Once it loads fine on HTTPS, you can unpause Cloudflare again and it should work.
