I recently registered my domain name https://sojahenta10ments.com with cloudflare but my Host is IONOs (1&1).
My website has been down for two days. I contacted the hosting company, below was the response "
When you changed the domain registration to CloudFlare, it took down the website connection to the domain. You will have to add our Name Servers to the domain for the website that is on our platform to show. Here is the information that you will have to provide to CloudFlare: https://bit.ly/3E2TBLt
My worry is am on a free plan and to change name savers I need to upgrade to Business plan which is $200 I need help, I don’t know much about these things and how they work.
what about changing from cloudflare to other nameserver like
You cannot change nameservers at Cloudflare Registrar sadly as per the terms (Domain Registration Agreement | Cloudflare):
- Nameservers . Registrant agrees to use Cloudflare’s nameservers. REGISTRANT ACKNOWLEDGES AND AGREES THAT IT MAY NOT CHANGE THE NAMESERVERS ON THE REGISTRAR SERVICES, AND THAT IT MUST TRANSFER TO A THIRD PARTY REGISTRAR IF IT WISHES TO CHANGE NAMESERVERS.
We the community can help you with bringing your site up however. Right now it looks like you don’t have a valid SSL certificate at 1&1.
I lost the SSL when I transferred to cloudflare.
what do u suggest I do ?
If you had an SSL certificate before and your site was working (with HTTPS) then maybe this is a case of the wrong SSL mode in Cloudflare. Make sure your SSL mode is Full (Strict) as seen here:
If that still doesn’t work:
SSL certificates are not tied to a registrar. I would recommend contacting 1&1 and asking them to provision a new certificate (this is something your host should be doing).
I haven’t used IONOs/1&1 before and I cannot find anything about how to upload or provision a free certificate for yourself. If you do know how to upload one, you can always use Cloudflare’s origin certificate: https://developers.cloudflare.com/ssl/origin-configuration/origin-ca
What If I buy a pro plan will i be able to change nameservers ?
Registrar is independent of plan levels. Pro Plan will not change the restriction outlined in the Terms of Service.
So what do u suggest Sir, how can I restore my website ?
I suggest you use the “Pause Cloudflare on Site” option from the Overview tab for your domain at dash.cloudflare.com. The link is in the lower right corner of that page. Give it five minutes to take effect, then make sure site is working as expected with HTTPS. Only then should you un-pause Cloudflare and double-check your SSL/TLS setting to make sure it’s Full (Strict).
