Changing CMANE to A record after migrating WP website

Dear Cloudflare community,

Hope you are well. We are now in the process of migrating our WP website to a different hosting (WP Engine > Dreamhost), and have already migrated the WP instance using a WP plugin.

We now need to change the DNS settings to point to new hosting. Dreamhost has the A record to point to, however, in our Cloudflare DNS records we currently use CNAME instead. We think this is because of the “CNAME flattening” that WP Engine uses.

So the current DNS record has:
CNAME
name:ourwebsite
Target:ourwebsiteorg.wpengine.com
Proxy status: Proxied
TTL: Auto

For Dreamhost, we don’t have a CNAME, but there’s a standard A record.
What would our steps be to switch to the new hosting, in this case?
regards,
Zhenia

Welcome to the Cloudflare Community. :logodrop:

  2. Add the A record
  3. ?
  4. Profit!
