What is the isssue you’re encountering

I didn’t have my domain name setup as an ‘addon domain’ at my shared host before transfer to Cloudflare to be my registrar. In order to create addon domain at host I need to change my NS to my host, then I change it back. My site has been down for days, I don’t know how to fix this. Cloudflare is my registrar.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

Looked within the DNS documentation to try to understand if its A or CNAME problem but I think from reading that the cause is that it was not configured at my host before I make Cloudflare my registrar.

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

Nameservers

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

Cloudflare does not give you the option to change your nameservers.

Most hosts have alternative methods of adding a custom domain, but some require you to change your nameservers. If your host is one of the latter, you will need to wait 60 days until you can transfer the domain to a different registrar.

What you can do is set NS records for subdomains. So you could try adding www.example.com to your hosting platform and then create NS records that point the name www to your host’s nameservers.

Thank you. I think it is important to see what my host can do/find an alternative method as setting up custom domain. I am on a steep learning curve and to avoid it getting messy.
Thank you though, I can stop my search for how to change NS
PG

My host managed to add the domain without changing nameservers.
I was then able to copy DNS records from another domain I had transferred that was working becuase it had been setup before change or registrar to Cloudflare and after editing the url in the text file and then uploading is now all working.
thank you !
