Just looking to change the namservers but keep MX so our email doesnt go down - we have new nameservers with SquareSpace

If you want to change your nameservers to SquareSpace, you have to copy all DNS records (like the MX) to SquareSpace before you make that change.

Squarespace needs me to go into Cloudflare to make the edits. I have the nameserver from squarespace but i havent entered them in as I am worried email will go down.

That’s wrong. You need to change the nameservers at your domain registrar ( Go Get Canada Domain Registrar Ltd.). After making the change, you won’t be using Cloudflare at all anymore.

If you haven’t copied your DNS record to SquareSpace, your email WILL go down after the change.

Yes the domain is hosted with Namecheap and i can change the nameservers to the squarespace ones but email will go down

Just to make it very clear:

You can’t change your nameservers to SquareSpace but keep your MX at Cloudflare.

If you want to change your nameservers to SquareSpace, you need to copy all DNS records (that includes your email records) to the new SquareSpace nameservers.

If you do that, there shouldn’t be any problems with your email.

Sorry just so I understand correctly. I would login to the DNS settings on cloudflare and update all the DNS settings to the ones provided by Squarespace?

No. You log into Cloudflare, copy all of your DNS records there, then log into SquareSpace and paste all your DNS records there.

Then you change your nameservers at your domain registrar and log out of Cloudflare forever.

thats why im confused as there isnt anywhere on squarespace to edit the nameservers on their end. it wants me to login to cloudflare/namecheap and make edits

You are not supposed to change your nameservers anywhere on SquareSpace. Sorry, but I can’t make it any more clear than I did in my previous post.

Sorry I think I understand now - i see an area to add records - so copy over the fields from cloudflare over to squaresapce there? Once I do how do I make sure the new website is being shown and not the old one? Would i have to delete some old CNAME records?
