That is correct, and those are my typical Cloudflare nameservers. However, my cloudflare instance is now asking to change the NS’s to something that I’ve never used. Which cannot be done as the domain is locked due to transfer.
This is standard for domains in a transfer state. Whats weird is we changed the NS to our CF designated NS’s pre-transfer.
Then while it was being transferred CF decided it didn’t want to use our usual NS’s, and requested we use another – but this is not possible during a domain transfer as it is between registrar’s.
Hoping CF can update its system to accept the NS’s it originally provided; and which we usually use.
Are you transfering to some other registrar or Cloudflare Registrar?
Your nameservers are assigned cannot be changed.
If you’ve already have had cloudflare nameservers, Cloudflare would randomly assign you the new pair of two ones which are different than the older ones (usually used for all your other Websites, might remember them if used on a lot of zones already) which you might have used or have put in advance, before and prior adding your new Website (domain) to your Cloudflare account.
To prevent domain hijacking, you can no longer preset Cloudflare nameservers at your registrar before creating the respective zone in Cloudflare. If you preset your nameservers and then add the domain, your domain will be assigned a new pair of nameservers.
In other words, any domain that already has Cloudflare nameservers will be given a new set whenever it is added to an account. If you set the nameservers before adding the domain to Cloudflare, that would trigger this so it is normal.
Nevertheless, you can also experience sometimes a new domain in your account will need to use different name servers than the other domains.
Wait until the transfer process is finished, afterwords proceed to change the domain nameserver at your new domain registrar. No other way around.
