Since my ISP continually hijacks ip 1.1.1.1 internally, I wanted to see if Cloudflate Gateway ip’s (172.64.36.1 and 172.64.36.2) can be used to resolve DNS, without using the additional features of Cloudflare Gateway.
172.64.36.1 uses the same base / cache as 1.1.1.1?
If you add your IP address as your Location, then use Gateway DNS, I doubt you’ll notice any difference from 1.1.1.1. I have a few filters in place, but otherwise, no difference.
As I think about it, I’m not even sure Location matters if you’re not trying to use any features. Go ahead. It’ll either work, or will be completely dead.
For now I have been using it with the CFG ip without any problem.
My query was more to know if there is any difference between 172.64.36.1 and 1.1.1.1 without adding sites and others, if they use the same cache, etc.
