CF-Connecting-IP returning bogons

We have followed the remoteIP instructions here: Restoring original visitor IPs – Cloudflare Help Center

However, in some cases we can see that the CF-Connecting-IP is returning bogons instead of real IP addresses. Here is an example of some the IPs we received:

244.99.20.39
247.120.57.164
246.123.31.210
248.87.102.231
241.198.73.164
248.161.239.221
254.149.20.44

Is there any explanation as to why so many bogons are coming through CF-Connecting-IP ?

Hi,

This would be our Pseudo-IPv4 feature, most likely - Understanding and configuring Cloudflare's IPv6 support – Cloudflare Help Center

This feature rewrites the cf-connecting-ip from an IPv6 address to a Class E IPv4 address for web servers that are not configured to support IPv6 addresses yet.

You should be able to change this under the β€˜Network’ tab on the dashboard.
