Case 01397386 - Domain renewed & invoiced but not in my account

What is the name of the domain?

chenoweth.us

What is the issue you’re encountering

I transfered chenoweth.us to cloudflare from Google domains a couple of years ago. Something happened about a year ago where it no longer appears in my dashboard. I received a renewal for it today with an invoice that I can’t pay because it doesn’t show up in my account!

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

Submitted many tickets to Cloudflare in the past year, provided proof that I own the domain. Tickets all get auto-closed when Cloudflare doesn’t update them after 90+ days.

In what area can we help you?

Transfer a domain between accounts

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

chenoweth.us is acting like it’s linked to someone elses account. I cannot access it to make name server updates yet I am getting invoiced for its renewal. I cannot pay for the invoice renewal because it’s not listed in my billing.

If you have access to past tickets, see 00990503, 00990307, 01333098, and 01397371.

These are all past attempts to get this resolved. The earliest two are closed because at the time there was no way to transfer domains between cloudflare users. The last two are open because I tried to get help before the domain renewed, which was ignored by Cloudflare, and because I submitted this same ticket to Invoicing because I don’t know whether this is a Registrar problem or an Invoice problem, because it is an invoice from registrar actions.

Which of these is your registrar ticket? My guess is this is a registrar issue.

This one (01397386) is the registrar ticket.

And thank you, Laudian, for helping.

This has been a frustrating problem for a year. I think the issue is something on Cloudflare’s back-end system has messed up the “linking” of my domain. I’m logging in with the same email address that received the renewal & invoice. Billing & invoice there don’t show anything, so I can’t even pay it if I wanted to.

The domain is in a “transferring” state, but cloudflare was and is the registrar. And I cannot access it to make any nameserver changes.

Really kinda stuck and frustrated with this.

Any chance you used iCloud login?

I’ve tried both the iCloud login and user/pass with the same email. They land to the same account.

I’ve escalated your ticket. I guess this will somehow be related to you using iCloud login. Did you make any changes to your iCloud email around the time the problem started?

I really appreciate your assistance with this.

I don’t recall making changes to the iCloud account.

But this all started when I intentionally deleted an unused sub-account (a gmail.com email). Something, somewhere got messed up with which account owns/manages that domain, because as soon as I removed the admin account my iCloud account lost access to it.

The gmail account no longer exists. If I try to delete the current iCloud account, I get an error that I can’t because it’s still tied to the domain. So cloudflare’s systems know that it’s tied to it somehow. But the domain doesn’t appear in my dashboard. I can’t “transfer” it because I can’t access it to update the new nameservers. And I can’t pay the renewal invoice because it doesn’t appear in my billing.

It’s a mess.

I have escalated this to our engineers and replied to your ticket #01397386
I’ll follow up in that ticket as soon as I get an update from engineering

Thank you emanova. I appreciate it!
