Cant use a freenom website...Even though its registered

error:

------.ga is not a registered domain (Code: 1049)

please help

Hi @lluc.sole.vilaro, sorry you’re having issues, I am not familiar with freenom, but it has recently been posted about a fair bit on this site. You may want to scan the posts to see the kinds of questions people will ask/information they need to point you in the right direction…one of those posts may even reflect your situation directly. Worth a try, https://community.cloudflare.com/search?q=freenom%20order%3Alatest, from that you’ll see a 1049 error indicates the domain isn’t registered, the domain has no nameservers, the domain nameservers can’t be resolved, or the domain nameservers don’t contain any DNS records.

as far as I know, Freenom is SCAM! stop using their service. you can register a domain for $0.99 (.tech .online.site …) work with that.

One should always be a bit wary with free domains, so also in this case as one is not listed as registrant, but specifically the registry instead

Your selected domain name is a FREE domain name. That means that, according to the Terms and Conditions of FREE domain names, the registrant is:

Nonetheless I wouldnt call it scam. I’d be equally careful with the TLDs you mentioned as they might be $1 in the first year, but the regular fee is $15+.

I use Freenom domains for a variety of test/experiments. Not sure what about them would be considered a scam. Would I use it for my business? No… but that doesn’t make them useless.

exactly you are right. the $1 I mentioned, is just the 1st year and for next years they charge regular. thanks for correcting my comment.

thats why I prefeer free domains… If I were to start a company I would defenetly buy a domain but for the time beeing id rather not…

I’d still recommend a proper domain. That you dont own either but at least by being the rightful registrant it is more difficult to take it from you.

And at $10 a year for a .com (thats less than a dollar a month) it shouldnt be an obstacle from a financial point of view.

true, but dont you think Cloudflare should build up some effort to at least accept some sort of free domain?
its really not that hard…

Cloudflare supports Freenom domains. As @cloonan mentioned there are multiple possible causes for the error. The most likely is the domain does not currently have nameservers set: Free domain from Freenom

Well, as @cs-cf already pointed out Cloudflare does

I had a few of them set-up at one point. It has always worked!

I thought the OP meant having Cloudflare offer free TLDs, like .tk, etc. In that case, they’re not really “free”, as Freenom foots the bill for those in order to sell hosting and registration services.

Yes, thats what the OP meant but what do you mean by “not really free”? Technically they are free, that one is not the legal registrant is a different story of course.
