Can't Update Records through iCloud

What is the name of the domain?

What is the issue you’re encountering

I have 2 MX records im trying to update that both have a period “.” at the end (using icloud) of the URL, but when I save the record the period automatically goes away, on iClouds end it’s not updating me and it keeps telling me I to double check the spelling of my MX record, which i know is misspelled.

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

DNS not responding/updating

You don’t need the dot at the end, Cloudflare handles that automatically and as you have found, removes it if you try to use it.

At the moment your domain isn’t pointing to Cloudflare’s nameservers…

If you want to use Cloudflare then change the nameservers at your registrar from the turbify.com ones to the 2 that Cloudflare has allocated you.

Can you please explain this like I was 6?

Log in to wherever your domain name is registered. Find in their dashboard where you change the nameservers. Change them to the 2 that Cloudflare is asking you to set them to.

However, it seems no Cloudflare nameservers are resolving for the domain so make sure you have selected a plan, even if Free, on the domain overview page in your Cloudflare dashboard. Ensure the domain status in the bar at the top changes from “Complete setup” to “Invalid nameservers”. When you have set the nameservers at your registrar, it will change to “Active”.

Correct me if I’m wrong, I’m learning as I go, but I bought my domain through Cloudflare, so shouldn’t that be where my it’s registered?

Thank you so much for helping me with this, I had no idea I’d get someone so responsive.

The domain is not registered with Cloudflare Registrar, it is registered by Tucows who a number of smaller registrars use to register domains for them, you can see here…

If your domain was registered by Cloudflare it would already be using Cloudflare nameservers as that is a requirement.

WHOIS shows it was registered through Tucows by Turbify…

Reseller: Turbify

Okay, I get that now. Thank you again for your help!

Another question, I’ve never use Turbify so idk how i would log in and make the changes i need. Does this mean someone else owned this domain in the past?

Have you just added this domain to Cloudflare and not registered it? Adding the domain does n’t register the domain, you need to own the domain if you want to add the domain on Cloudflare. If the Turbify domain registration and nameservers are nothing to do with you then this domain is already owned by someone else.

I have an update, and it (almost) all make sense. So first of all, I submitted the wrong domain in this request. The CORRECT domain is hiveandhoneySOLUTIONS.com

My follow up is, now that I know we were looking at the wrong domain. I still need to know why this wasn’t working in the first place, if I don’t have to include the period?

According to Apple’s instructions…

The MX records seem correct as does the SPF record. Check that the text record with the Apple code is correct. You are missing the DKIM record.

Okay, so I’ve double checked everything, and corrected a couple things, like the DKIM Host, and also the proxy status. I’ve double checked for any extra spaces, and I’m copy pasting everything exactly. I am still not getting approval from iClouds end. Please advise.

You’re using the wrong domain again in the DKIM CNAME

sig1.dkim.hiveandhoney.com.at.icloudmailadmin.com

Make sure you’ve added the correct domain at the iCloud end as well.
