Can't receive email sent from destination address

I have configured Email Routing with a custom address and a catch-all. Both work fine when I’m sending emails to the domain from other email addresses.
But I I send the email from email address used as a destination address it is never delivered.

Example:

email routing set for [email protected], destination is [email protected]

When I send email from [email protected] to [email protected] the email should be received at the same inbox I sent it from but it never arrives.

Is this expected?

I suspect this is actually Gmail not showing those emails as duplicates, not to do with Cloudflare.

If you sent your test email from your Gmail account and forwarded through Cloudflare back to the same Gmail account, Gmail will deduplicate the email and not show it in your inbox.
